(Macropus fuliginosus fuliginosus)

This kangaroo is sometimes referred to as a “Stinker” because adult males have a strong odor that smells like curry!

There are two subspecies of Western Gray Kangaroo, the mainland variety (Macropus fuliginosus melanops) is common across the southern end of Australia. The individual in this photo is a member of the Kangaroo Island subspecies, which is only found on Kangaroo Island in South Australia!
