Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! These two warthogs were looking for love and found it in South Africa.

Warthogs are definitely one of my favorite creatures in Africa. While Cristina and I were volunteering as wildlife monitors in South Africa, dozens of warthogs would show up each day and “mow” the lawn around our house on the reserve. After a couple months they became very comfortable with us. So comfortable that they even performed their mating rituals right outside our door!

Tuatara (Sphenodon punctuates) This ancient reptile is so different from anything alive today that it has its own order (meaning it's not a snake, crocodilian, turtle, or even a lizard!) It has a "third eye" on top of its head with a lens and a retina! Photographed at Willowbank Wildlife Reserve, Christchurch, New Zealand (captive)
